Hello Again

Long time, no write. Life has a way of getting in the way of our best intentions, and more often the things that are important to us but not quite necessary. So here I am again, trying to pull back the things that mean the most to me, including reading and writing.

Since the last time I posted, life has certainly changed. I now have twin 3-year-old boys, and I changed jobs again, working in the best possible place for me: a public library. I’m not a librarian, not yet, but a part-time job processing check-ins and check-outs and accepting passport applications is perfect right now.

The only problem is that I already had an infinite list of books to read, and somehow I’ve added on to infinity. I’m slowly working through them in the rare moments the kids aren’t demanding to be thrown around like sacks of potatoes. Here are some of my favorite books I’ve read over the past few years:

  • The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz
  • The Marlow Murder Club series by Robert Thorogood
  • The Daevabad Trilogy by Shannon Chakraborty
  • A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
  • An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten
  • The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
  • Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil by Oliver Darkshire
  • Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

It feels so good to spend some time in new worlds and other people’s heads as I’ve learned the ins and out of parenthood and staying home with the kids nearly full time. I’ve been reading many, MANY parenting and ADHD books (recently diagnosed as an adult!), but the fiction is sometimes far more helpful and certainly more enjoyable. Maybe I’ll do some reviews of these little treats as time permits in the coming weeks.

So anyway, I just wanted to say hey, I’m back, and I look forward to telling you all about the things that make me happy. Off we go!

Caelie
